The D500 model, referred to as The Expression, features interchangeable laser-cut panels that allow changes to the aesthetic without structural modifications. Available designs include Bamboo, Botanical, Champagne, Flourish, Fracture, Greenwich, Patriot, and Waterford. These panels fit between square main balusters and under a smooth, flat handrail, offering a modern look that can be updated over time. When ordering a D500 at standard specifications, the addition of a second full set of panels comes at a reduced rate, enabling multiple style options from the outset.
This extension builds on Custom Iron’s approach to fabrication, where staircases are built in sections for straightforward assembly. The process begins with client consultations to capture project details, followed by CAD drawings and shop plans. Fabrication occurs in the company’s Minnesota facility, with powder coating applied for protection against elements in both interior and exterior applications. Staircases ship disassembled, accompanied by instructions that facilitate installation by two people in a few hours.
